The evening was well attended by current and past members, and a great night was had by all. Harbour Theatre founding & Life Member, Joyce Birch, who had made the trip from Bridgetown specially to attend, didn't go away empty handed either, having won the nights raffle prize - a limited edition photographic print from fellow Harbour Theatre member, Juergen Krautbauer. A series of Juergen's prints, "The Door" were also displayed in the theatre throughout the first season. December 2009 / January 2010 The mammoth task of physically moving the theatre from the Princess May Building across the park to the Port Cineaste Cinema is undertaken over the Christmas & New Year break by the members of Harbour Theatre & friends with the aim of having the Port Cineaste Cinema ready in time for Harbour Theatre's first production at our new temporary venue in March 2010. December 2009 At the final committee meeting for 2009, the Harbour Theatre Committee decided to confer Life Membership to President Nicola Bond in recognition of her commitment to Harbour Theatre both 'on-stage' and off-stage' over the last few years and especially for the effort over the last year in lobbying the Fremantle Council and State government to secure the continuation of Harbour Theatre in Fremantle. 29th November 2009 This week the Fremantle Council passed the Strategic and General Services Committee recommendations so Harbour will be moving to the Port Cineaste Cinema for 2010. Thanks to everyone for their support, but we still need to maintain the pressure on the Council as this move is only temporary and Harbour still need a permanent home. Show your support for Harbour Theatre by contacting the Fremantle Elected Members (see this link). And don't forget, if you're in Fremantle - there's still time to see our last production at the Princess May Building... November 2009 HARBOUR THEATRE LIVES ON TO PERFORM ANOTHER DAY! Here's the latest on Harbour Theatre's status from President Nicola Bond regarding a venue for 2010: We will hopefully be moving into new temporary premises just around the corner in the Port Cineaste for at least the whole of 2010 and negotiations have commenced with Deckchair Theatre to share the Victoria Hall in High Street Fremantle as our permanent home from 2011. The City of Fremantle's recommendations have been passed by the Strategic and General Services Committee and now all that remains is for the Council to approve the proposal at the next council meeting scheduled for the 25th November. FINGERS CROSSED everyone! September 2009 As you may well be aware by now, Harbour Theatre's final production for 2009, Oliver Twist, will also be our last at the Princess May Building. The theatre has been in production for 46 years and we intend to continue, so rest assured that we are investigating all possibilities to continue performing in the Fremantle region throughout 2010. 5th September 2009 Yes, as reported this week on the front page of both of Fremantle's local papers, Harbour Theatre may have to move from the Princess May Building. Negotiations and discussions are still under way between the FEC, Fremantle City Council and Harbour Theatre, but we need your help. Show your support for Harbour Theatre by contacting the Fremantle Elected Members (see this link).
June 2009 Harbour Theatre's new look web site and new dedicated URL are launched... December 2008 It is with great pleasure that Harbour Theatre announce their success in receiving a grant from the recent Ignite Funding for WA Community Theatre by the Department of Culture and Arts. The grant will be used to install an intra-theatre communications system and to upgrade and replace our aging (and obsolete) lights and flats. ![]() January 2008 Congratulations to Harbour Theatre member Tim Prosser for his Adjudicators Certificate for 'Impressive Committment to Set Design and Dressing for several productions in 2007' at the Finley Awards. Also congratulations (but no ribbons) for the following nominations at the Finley Awards: Best Director - Pat Stroud for A Hard God Best 'Other Than a Lead' Actor, Male - Alan Kennedy & Matt Longman for A Hard God Our older news articles have been moved to here if you ever wish to peruse them :)
